Yukon Gov Collective Agreement
The agreement must now be submitted for ratification, the government said in a press release on Tuesday. Members of the Yukon Employees Union (YEU) have adopted a new three-year collective agreement, union president Steve Geick confirmed this morning. Details of the agreement will not be made public until it is ratified. The Parties agree that this Agreement shall be read in conjunction with the attached plans and any other Annexes to be annexed to this Agreement and together constitute the entire Agreement between the Parties. “Many hours of hard work by bargaining teams over the past nine months have resulted in a collective agreement that will guide us over the next three years,” Geick said in a joint news release issued this morning by the union and the Government of Yukon. The agreement provides for a general wage increase of 5.25%, or 1.75%, for each of the three years retroactive to 1 January. The previous agreement expired on December 31 last year. No implied condition or obligation of any kind by or on behalf of either party shall arise from anything in this Agreement. The express agreements and understandings contained in this Agreement and entered into by the parties are the only agreements and understandings on which the rights against either party may be based. This schedule will be amended by the REB from time to time to reflect salary increases and other changes applicable to the REB, e.B those that may result from collective bargaining or classification renewal.
The new agreement also includes a number of other wage regulations and severance protection that the government wants to cap, Geick said. In cases where the CER determines that it does not have sufficient resources to adequately provide the requested services, it will notify Yukon. The CER may engage third-party service providers to provide the Services and will provide Yukon with the estimated cost of such Services prior to entering into agreements to provide the Services. Yukon will then confirm whether it agrees to the CER covering the cost of these services. Negotiators reached the provisional agreement on 7 June. The Territorial Cabinet ratified the collective agreement prior to the union`s ratification process. Richard Mostyn, the minister responsible for the Public Service Commission, said in the news release that the agreement aligns the needs of employees with the government`s commitment to public services in Yukon. NOW, the parties hereby agree to the principles and procedures of this Agreement (the “Agreement”) for the provision of technical advice by the Cer Corporation in Yukon and the reimbursement of related costs by the Yukon Corporation. Four teams of 4,000 union representatives visited all municipal and road camps in the territory last week to explain the proposed agreement and collect votes.
The teachers` union and the territory began collective bargaining on December 2, with the last agreement expiring on June 30. The union, which has about 1,119 active members, will have to vote to ratify the new collective agreement. Impressive! Very few comments, and none of merit, because these three would have beaten a deal. It is as much support as I have ever seen for a government assignment. Honestly, is Wilf sleeping? The Government of Yukon and Yukon teachers have reached an interim collective agreement. The CER will invoice Yukon for disbursements paid or payable to CER employees and contractors on a quarterly basis or at other times mutually agreed upon by the parties. The total amount for which Yukon may be held liable to the CER for the provision of services under this Agreement in respect of a Fiscal Year shall not exceed the amount entered in the Yukon Budget for that fiscal year for the purposes of this Agreement, subject to the following provisions: He said, employees who felt they needed time to deal with an event, use their own vacation time. “Thank you to the members who clearly identified their priorities for this round and supported the teams throughout the process. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CER`s total liability to Yukon under this Agreement, whether or not based on breach of contract, tort, strict liability, breach of warranty, breach of essential purpose or otherwise, shall be limited to the fees paid by Yukon until such liability arose.
and, in any event, no more than the expenditure ceiling set in accordance with Article 6(1). . . . .
